Dunkin' Donuts Has A New Holiday Cup — And Menu

It's a question as philosophical, yet pertinent as the age-old "If a tree falls in the woods" conundrum: Would the holidays be nearly as warm and cozy without a hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa in hand? Thankfully, we'll likely never have to know the dire alternative — not only do the dropping temps herald perfect weather for consuming coffee, but they also usher in the arrival of Dunkin' Donuts' holiday coffee cup. Rising to the occasion today, the Canton, Mass.-based coffee and pastry purveyor just released a special holiday-themed coffee cup to add even more pep to its imbibers steps.

And, y'all, it's precious. Set against the traditional white backdrop, the cup features a green wreath — not to mention the Dunkin' Donuts "DD" logo cleverly masquerading as red holly berries — encircling one simple word: Joy. Who wouldn't want to sip some White Chocolate Mocha to that sentiment? But whilst enjoying a delightfully brewed beverage from a cheery container would seem to be an unequivocally happy development, holiday coffee cups are not without drama. After all, unless you live off the grid, you've heard about the whole Starbucks red cup controversy.

Dunkin', however, states that the design of their holiday cup has nothing to do with any rival and everything to do with tradition. "For many years, Dunkin' Donuts has served coffee in festive cups featuring the word 'joy' as part of our annual celebration of the season and holiday offerings. We believe this conveys the happiness and spirit of the holiday season in a way that resonates with our guests." Scott Hudler, Dunkin's VP of global consumer engagement, told HuffPo.

And since #ItsJustACup — albeit a very cute one — I think we can all agree that while this news is noteworthy, we can now move onto more pressing matters. Like, for example, have you seen some of the other additions to Dunkin' Donuts holiday lineup? This merits further discussion, my friends. Let me introduce you to these glorious delights sure to make you feel as though your holiday cup hath runneth over.

1. The Snickerdoodle Croissant Donut

This one's a mouthful, quite literally. If a Snickerdoodle cookie and a cronut produced an offspring, it would be this heavenly confection filled with cookie dough-flavored buttercreme and topped with a drizzle of white icing and cinnamon streusel topping.

2. The Caramel Cheesecake Square

Who said donuts have to be round, anyway? Dunkin' broke the mode with this square donut that doubles as a cure for your cheesecake craving — it is actually stuffed with cheescake filling, not to mention finished off with caramel icing and chocolate caramel candy cups.

3. Holiday Cookie Coffee Flavors

As if transforming a Snickerdoodle into donut form wasn't enough, Dunkin' took it a step further by introducing the Snickerdoodle Macchiato. Be still my overcaffienated, sugar-fiending soul. Joining this ambrosial beverage are two other cookie-inspired holiday flavors: the Peppermint Mocha Hot Latte and the Sugar Cookie Iced Coffee.
