Kerry Washington Stuns in Giambattista Valli

by Rosie Narasaki

Between the Academy Governors Awards and the Baby2Baby Gala this weekend, there were a lot of stellar celebrity fashion moments going on — but best of all might just be Kerry Washington in Giambattista Valli Couture at the Baby2Baby Gala. The Scandal star spared no drama in a voluminous ball gown from the fashion house — not only did the dress feature a... well, huge skirt, it also happened to be covered with oversized sheer pink petals, cascading down from the bodice. Always a good option in my opinion.

A new mom herself, the night's impeccably stylish honoree (in my humble opinion) was joined by a slew of gorgeously dressed women and mothers, including Kourtney Kardashian who wowed in an impeccably-styled cream tuxedo, and Jessica Biel, who wore an architectural custom look from Monse. Still, Washington managed to seriously stand out in her ultra-dramatic couture.

The dress in question came from Giambattista Valli's explosively floral Fall 2015 Couture collection, where it was one of the most showstopping dresses on the runway — and those familiar with Valli's designs (which include Lena Dunham's wacky 2014 Emmys dress, and Lupita Nyong'o's embellished 2015 Golden Globes dress) know that that's no mean feat. Let's take a look at Kerry's latest high-fashion confection.

Breathtaking, right? And absolutely perfect for Washington, who's been known to flourish with stylish risk-taking in the past.

In fact, this latest dress is like the chic older sister of the princessy Marchesa she wore to the 2013 Emmy Awards, no?

At any rate, the look seriously works for her — so let's hope she tries something this high-risk, high-reward soon! The world needs more Kerry Washington in voluminous, petal-covered dresses. Side note: Olivia Pope should totally wear Giambattista Valli Couture to the next White House Correspondents Dinner. Right? Right?
