Cate Blanchett's Faux Cutouts Are High Fashion

by Kali Borovic

Celebrating the premiere of her new film Carol, Cate Blanchett wore a faux cutout gown that looked absolutely gorgeous. So many celebrities are wearing sheer now-a-days that the actress's new take on the barely-there trend was a breath of fresh air. Blanchett looked like she stepped straight off the runway in her high fashion look, and she wasn't the only one that had great style at the premiere.

As unusual as fake cutouts sound, they looked absolutely gorgeous on the star. She wore an olive green gown paired with a beige colored corset that matched her skin so it looked like nothing was there. You could see just enough of the corset peeking out to make for a visually interesting yet still elegant look. Actually, you have to take a second or third glance to even tell that it's not her skin showing, at least from the front.

The outfit was rather conservatively cut, which was a nice surprise considering how much skin is being shown on the red carpet lately. She paired the Lanvin Spring 2016 gown with strappy nude heels and subtle earrings that made for a classic and romantic look. Add to that the actress's short and wavy locks and a soft smokey eye and you've got for one winning premiere ensemble.

Then she turns around for the big reveal.

The soft gown popped against her co-star Rooney Mara's edgy lace dress.

Looking fierce in Chanel Haute Couture, Mara opted for an all-black ensemble.

She made her look more modern with a pop of pink lipstick.

If this movie is as romantic and stylish as the event, then it's sure to be a hit!
