Sweater Nail Art Is Perfect For The Holidays

If you're a beauty aficionado, you know that around the holidays, tutorials on everything — from holiday party hair to how to dress for an office party. Now, there's a beauty trend perfect for every single holiday. Sweater nail art takes the patterns we love from out favorite winter weather fashion and translates it onto your nails. Whether it's Thanksgiving, New Year's, or a religious holiday, there's never a moment when sweaters aren't appropriate. So why not rock the look on your nails this winter?

According to Elle UK, the trend began — as most beauty trends do — on Instagram. Photographs of nails featuring cable knits patterns began to emerge, and it's not the super cute but simple snowflake patterns from holidays past. This new trend is a careful creation formed by using gel polish and acrylic to achieve the look. While I'm no genius when it comes to nail art, my best guess is that the acrylic is carefully applied to create raised lines along the natural nail in patterns that resemble that of a cable knit sweater. After a gel coating is applied to keep the meticulously created look perfectly in place.

The look is perfect for the winter weather, whether you go full-on mani or just opt for it as an accent nail.

Cute and colorful, right? Cosmopolitan points readers into the direction of nail artist Vera Peneda for interested and talented at-home nail experts. Peneda creates intricate and incredible designs using a 3D gel.

While the look is incredible and adorable, if you're not quite as dedicated or skillful as those on YouTube, never fear because there are still tons of great holiday nail art ideas for you!
