Kanye Fans Will Love 'The Night Before'

In case you haven't heard, there's a new Christmas comedy out this year that is totally bonkers. The Night Before stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anthony Mackie, and Seth Rogen as three best friends going out for the most wild night of their lives — on Christmas Eve. There's drinking. There's drugs. There's reindeer and explosions and fist fights with Santa Claus. There is also a run-in with at least one major pop star. The trailer gives away that Miley Cyrus joins Gordon-Levitt for a rendition of "Wrecking Ball', but there's another musical number from the trailer that hints at a possible other big cameo. So, let's talk about that Kanye scene in The Night Before.

Unfortunately for Kanye West fans, Yeezy does not appear in the film. Despite rampant rumors that he would, which were lent credence by a false IMDb listing that West was among the cast, the "Bound 2" rapper does not appear at any point in the movie. Yet still, if you google "The Night Before cast", his name is the fourth one listed after the movie's three main stars. So what gives? Why does everybody think Kanye West is in this movie?

The rumors can be traced back to one scene of the movie, when the three guys stop into an FAO Schwarz-like store to play a giant piano, reminiscent of the one from the Tom Hanks movie Big. But instead of playing "Heart and Soul" or a Christmas carol, Rogen and Gordon-Levitt play the signature piano riff from the opening of "Runaway". Once they get the intro down, Mackie jumps in to start in on the verses, assisted by some kind of autotune toy. The result is a pretty outstanding rendition, as you can see in the clip below.

This of course isn't the first time Rogen has come up with his own version of a Kanye West song. He and BFF James Franco also parodied the video for "Bound 2" back in 2013 with "Bound 3", where they replaced a topless Kim Kardashian from the original video with a shirtless Rogen.

As for Franco? He does actually have a cameo in The Night Before . As for what it entails, well, you'll just have to watch the movie.
