Get Jodelle Ferland's Green 'Dark Matter' Hair

Today Jodelle Ferland told fans via Instagram she can't wait to have her Dark Matter hairstyle back. As a fan of fantasy and sci-fi, I'm a little embarrassed to say I haven't yet seen Dark Matter. Taken from the comic book series of the same name, the storyline of this TV show follows a group of people who wake up on a starship with no memories of who they are or why they are there. Ms. Ferland happens to be one of the passengers aboard the ship; she has wonderful green hair and she appears to be the youngest member of the mystery crew. This role is a far cry from her part of Bree Tanner in the Twilight series, who she played when she was a teenager.

Earlier today, Ferland posted a cute snap onto her Instagram profile, which revealed that she will soon be donning green locks again for her role in Dark Matter. It was a throwback photo of her flaunting this gorgeous shade and I was soon green with envy at her unique style. Until this year I had only ever tried (mostly) natural-color dyes in my hair, but this year I wanted to try something a little different. I've had so much fun experimenting with temporary dyes that perhaps in the new year I'll bite the bullet and go permanent.

If you're a fan of this gorgeous green shade, here's how you can get a similar look at home.

1. The Mermaiden Mane

Manic Panic Siren's Song Amp Hair Dye, $9.74, hottopic.com

This semipermanent dye could last the wearer six to twelve washes. Aptly named "Siren's Song," I can think of no better color for an aspiring mermaid or a fan of fantasy pop culture. The cool bonus? It glows in blacklight.

2. The Peacock Green

Flaunt your tresses proudly with a pretty, peacock green shade such as this semi-permanent dye by Joico.

3. The Vibrant Hair Chalk

If you're seeking a much more temporary solution, look no further than hair chalk. As a huge hair chalk fan, I would love to get my hands on this vibrant green shade. Hair chalk is super easy to use and lasts a few washes. It's a great choice for those who want to experiment with different colors in order to discover which shade they like the best.

4. The Forest Green Shade

This forest green hair dye is a green-hearted gal's dream: It's vegan so it doesn't contain any animal byproducts and is not tested on animals.
