Here's Exactly What Makes the Perfect Man, Says You

by Nathalie O'Neill

For their August issue, Vanity Fair polled more than 1,000 people to figure out what makes the perfect man. In a nutshell: an attentive mom, a good education, and not too much drinking. Oh, and being Grey's Anatomy's McDreamy doesn't hurt.

Mothers have "a lot of control" in shaping perfect men. This is actually pretty accurate. Studies show that boys whose parents shared household chores are more likely to pitch in throughout their lives. In that vein, fathers also play an important role in shaping the perfect man—it's all about setting the example for a good partnership.

Well, duh. One of the only guys both you and your mom can agree on. Am I right?

This one is actually pretty neat. We still have these ideas floating around that a guy who plays a bit rough is more sexy. Turns out, that's not all it's cracked up to be. Oh, and 9 percent would change their mothers-in-law? I don't even know what to say about that one.

Alcohol = bad temper. Makes sense.

The research is in, it's official. A college education makes for a happier marriage.

So, really, Vanity Fair got it almost completely right. The perfect man is college educated, has parents who share responsibilities, doesn't drink excessively, and has an even temper. Bonus points for dark wavy hair and twinkling blue eyes.
