7 Easy Banana Face Masks For Clear Skin

by Lindsey Rose Black

The holidays mean lots of delicious food you might not otherwise feast on, but all those indulgences plus dramatic winter temperatures can really throw off your skin. If you’re struggling with pimples, consider whipping up these easy banana face masks for clear skin. I promise it doesn't get easier than this.

Bananas are not only the ultimate on-the-go breakfast food, but happen to have incredible beauty benefits when slathered on your face. Bananas contain vitamins A, B, E, and tons of potassium, all of which work to naturally fight blemishes by evening out skin, moisturizing, and combatting free radicals. Bonus point for the fact that even banana peels are able to reduce dark spots from sun exposure, whiten teeth, and can prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Talk about a superfood, no?

While a pure banana mask alone will definitely nourish your skin and fight pimples, the banana face mask recipes below add in even more powerhouse skin-clearing ingredients to leave you glowing and refreshed no matter how harsh the weather is or how many pie slices you scarf down.

Buy a bunch of bananas and start concocting these delicious and simple face masks!

1. Banana & Honey

While the banana works to clear your skin, honey ensures it won't dry out. Just mix one mashed banana with a tablespoon of honey, rub on your face and leave for fifteen minutes, then rinse.

2. Banana & Lemon Juice

If you have oily skin and are suffering, the boost of citric acid in lemon juice will really help to cleanse and exfoliate skin. Mash a ripe banana with juice from half a lemon, rub on your face and leave for ten to fifteen minutes, and rinse.

3. Banana & Baking Soda

Combine the power of banana with baking soda, which is a natural deep cleanser and oil remover. You only need to add about 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda to your mashed banana mask for it to work. Let the mask sit on your face for about ten minutes before rinsing.

4. Banana & Turmeric Powder

Packed with antibacterial properties, turmeric powder is a great addition to a banana mask and will knock out the bacteria causing pimples. Similar to baking soda, a little goes a long way and all you need is a 1/2 teaspoon into your face mask. Apply and leave the mask for ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing.

5. Banana & Avocado

While the banana cleanses, avocado will keep your skin moist and supple. Mash half an avocado with one ripe banana, apply and leave on your face for twenty minutes, and then rinse.

6. Banana & Plain Yogurt

Swirl plain yogurt into your banana face mask to help reduce any inflammation and redness associated with pimples. Mix 1/3 cup of yogurt into a mashed banana, apply and leave on your face for about fifteen minutes, then rinse.

7. Banana & Coconut Oil

Combining these superfoods and slathering them on your face just makes sense. Coconut oil features lauric acid, which kills acne-causing bacteria. Melt down a tablespoon of coconut oil (you can do this on the stove or in the microwave) and stir it into a mashed room temperature banana. Apply to your face, leave for up to half an hour, and rinse.
