Photos Of San Bernardino Suspects' Standoff

by Jenny Hollander

Update: On Wednesday, Dec. 2, a shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, left 14 people dead and 21 wounded. Hours after the attack, police pursued information that led to a chase of a dark SUV, which was later determined to be a rental car. A shootout between police and the suspects left both suspects dead. The suspects were identified as Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, who were husband and wife.

According to federal law enforcement authorities, the four guns used in the shooting were purchased legally. The suspects were found to have 1,600 rounds of ammunition with them, and at a home the suspects were renting in Redlands, California, law enforcement officers found 4,500 rounds of ammunition and 12 pipe bombs. No official motive has been confirmed, though a source told the Los Angeles Times that investigators are considering a combined motive of "terrorism and workplace."

Earlier: Just over four hours after at least one gunman stormed a state-run Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, killing at least 14 people and injuring upwards of 17 more, police apprehended a black SUV. Gunfire erupted between what appears to be the San Bernardino suspects and police, and one person appears to be possibly deceased; the words "suspect down" could be heard over the police scanner after police made moves to apprehend the suspect or suspects. According to the CBS News live feed, bullet holes can be seen in the SUV. Armored vehicles are surrounding the SUV, and the vehicle is cornered.

At least one other suspect, separate from the one that is "down," appears to have been cornered inside the vehicle, and local media is reporting that one suspect is in custody.

There has been no official word from authorities about whether the SUV incident is related to the San Bernardino shooting. The San Bernardino police department had earlier asked the public to keep an eye out for a black SUV, which is thought to have transported the shooters away from the crime scene.

Many vehicles have stopped close to the standoff site.
