Shooting At Chicago Walmart Injures Several

Thursday evening, police said a shooting at Walmart in a Chicago suburb left several people injured, NBC Chicago reported, although a conflicting report from ABC indicated that only one person had been shot. Police are searching for a suspect in the west suburb of Darien, Illinois, where a Walmart employee told CBS that it appeared the shooting occurred during a dispute between two individuals who were in or near the Subway located inside the store. The number and identities of the victims have not yet been released. A witness told ABC 7 that she was standing in line, "Then I heard pop, pop, pop and somebody said 'that's a gun.' ... But I was extremely frightened with all the crazy stuff that's going on that someone was going to be waiting outside the exit for us."

Tensions are high across the country after two large-scale mass shootings took place in one week — one at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, Colorado, that left three people dead and nine wounded, and one at a center that serves people with developmental disabilities in San Bernardino, California, that left 14 people dead and 21 injured.

The Chicago shooter has not yet been identified or located, and more information was not currently available.
