Weiland's Bandmates Honor Him On Social Media

by Caitlyn Callegari

It is never easy to deal with the news of someone young passing, but it's especially difficult for those who knew them personally to comprehend it. If you're not yet aware, sadly, Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland has died at the age of 48, and his various band members have spoken out about the loss. Though, unlike the fans, they knew the singer outside of his public persona, it appears that they were just as shocked as we all were to hear of his untimely death.

(Update: Stone Temple Pilots released a statement about Weiland to Entertainment Weekly. It reads in part, "Dear Scott, Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us. Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.)

Over the duration of his impressive career, Weiland played in a number of bands, including the iconic Stone Temple Pilots, as well as Velvet Revolver, Art of Anarchy, Camp Freddy, The Wondergirls, and The Wildabouts, with which he was on tour at the time of his death. The musicians he undoubtedly made strong connections with in these groups have taken to their social media accounts to share their feelings and pay their respects, and also, seemingly, in an effort reach out to those also grappling with the shocking loss. If there’s one thing to take away from this terrible tragedy, perhaps it’s that Weiland was and still is clearly so very loved by all that knew him.

Here are some of the heartfelt messages written by Weiland’s grieving bandmates.
