The 'Sisters' Trailer Guides Your Party Wardrobe

by Julia Musto

Need another party look that you can rock all year round instead of just the holidays? In the new movie Sisters , comedic geniuses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler answer all your sequined prayers. If you haven't seen the trailer then read this article all the way through. It totally won't spoil anything about the movie or trailer at all — with the exception of everything about it.

In the film, real-life besties Fey and Poehler play Jane and Maura Ellis, who are reunited when their parents sell their childhood home. In an act of nostalgia, hormones, and desperation the pair decide to throw a party to end all parties to mark the end of their time there. Fey is the wild sister, and Poehler is the perfect one. It's amazing.

With metallics and all things sparkly becoming popular trends in 2015, it's the perfect time to channel Fey and Poehler's final party looks (in addition to their killer t-shirt game). There are some pretty easy alternatives you can find and wear out on the town or to your own dance-off too. But, first I would like to introduce you to some of the best looks from the Sisters trailer. May the farce be with you.

1. Pre-Party Sisters

Love it. Love it. This isn't a part of the look, but it should inspire some every day outfits.

2. Getting Ready

To clarify: this is not how to wear these dresses, but maybe it should be. Let your freak flag fly.

Ugh, yes. Poehler. She's rocking her classic Leslie Knope thinly lined eyes, purple shadow, and pink-lipped look. It really works for her.

3. The Party Phase

Moynahan is popping out of a wall. This is notable. If you're not at a party where Bobby Moynahan is not popping out of a wall: go home.

Maya Rudolph was not invited to this party and dances outside creepily in this cool cheetah print power jumper.

Here are your heroines: Fey and Poehler funky chicken in the middle of the dance floor. They are both wearing high tops which are perfect for cool style and breaking it down. Both have chunky bracelets to make the look more cohesive.

Notice Fey's eyes and earring choice. They are a hard smokey coal, but the earrings are a flash of gold to match her black and gold snakeskin dress. Her brow game is strong, and those cheekbones could cut night cheese.

We get a zoom in on Poehler's sexy silver studded dress and bangles. It pops against her hair. Both women have dark black dresses with a metallic overlay, a low neckline, and a form exaggerating cut.

Now it's your turn!

Look 1: Maura Ellis

Living After Midnight Studded Dress, $288, Nasty Gal

Solid Fit & Flare Dress by Laundry by Shelli Segal, $59, Gilt

Shine Off Sequin Dress, $68.40, Nasty Gal

To achieve the Poehler party outfit, you're going to have to be a silver person. My skin tone works best with gold, but a lot of people can pull off both. You're also going to have to like studs. This is a biker-chic look, but it's still very feminine.

Look 2: Jane Ellis

Gold Womens Sexy Halter Low Cut Backless Retro Clubwear Dress, $16.56, Melodic Day

Sequin Chiffon-Skirt Dress, $109.99, Macy's

Hey hey, Tina Fey. . . fans. Here are two rockin' black and gold looks to wear every day of your New Year's Eve trip to Vegas.

Need some high-top-spiration? Try some classic white, black, or metallic leather Vans:

sk8-hi slim zip high-top sneakers in perforated leather, $89, Madewell

SK-8 Hi Reissue Leather Sneaker, $80, Urban Outfitters

Foil Metallic SK-8 Hi Slim, $75,

Metallic Leather SL-8 Hi Slim, $75, Vans

I'm sure Pohler and Fey would be very proud of your commitment to these looks, and your friends will commend you on your use of metallics. When you go to the club or throw a house party, you will be the shiniest ones there. Party on and catch Sisters on December 18.
