A Look Back At The Best 'Muppets' Guest Stars

by Alexandra Watt

Saying goodbye is hard — but thankfully, fans don't have to bid adieu to The Muppets for too long. The winter finale of the show is at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, drawing a run of hilarious episodes to a close. However, this doesn't mean the end of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of their puppet cohort forever. According to TVLine, ABC has ordered a full season of the The Muppets, meaning that the episode airing on Dec. 8 is not the end at all. Showrunner Bob Kushell is being replaced, and an additional six episodes are being aired in the spring as a “retooling” of the series. The report on TVLine claims that the next section of the Muppets is set to look “very different” from the first half of the freshman season. I know that I'm very curious to see what the changes will be, so when exactly will The Muppets return after hiatus?

According to Entertainment Weekly, The Muppets will be back onscreen Feb. 2. It's not yet known what the changes will mean for the show, but I sure hope that there continue to be some amazing celebrity cameos. Until then, at least we have Tuesday night's holiday-themed episode to look forward to, starring Mindy Kaling. I love me some Mindy, but she's far from the only great celeb to grace the show. Here are some best guest stars on this season of The Muppets.

Elizabeth Banks

The season premiere featured Miss Banks as the source of contention between Miss Piggy and Kermit, where it was revealed that they broke up during the premiere of Pitch Perfect 2.

Josh Groban

Kermit orchestrated a scene in which Josh Groban and Miss Piggy fall in love to improve her mood. I totally feel you, Piggy.

Reza Aslan

His interview with Miss Piggy is now his Twitter cover photo.

Christina Applegate

As Miss Piggy's party pal, Applegate revealed an embarrassing video of the talk show host diving, snout-first, into her birthday cake. For viewers' sake, I hope the two can remain friends.

Liam Hemsworth

This Mockingjay star was just as charming on the show as you'd expect him to be.

Ed Helms

The Vacation star gets his karaoke on with Kermit and the gang at Rowlf's Saloon.

Reese Witherspoon

Witherspoon got flirty with Kermit and feisty with Miss Piggy over the fact that she beat out Miss Piggy for her spot in Walk The Line.

Kristen Chenoweth

Miss Piggy and Chenoweth proved to be quite the musical duo.

Jason Bateman

ABC

A departure from nice-guy Michael on Arrested Development, Bateman was a real jerk to Kermit when they run into each other at a yoga retreat.

Chelsea Handler

Poor Scooter was completely taken with the gorgeous comedian in this episode.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Everyone's favorite dimpled actor did an absolutely adorable rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" with Miss Piggy.

Dave Grohl

And who could forget when The Foo Fighters frontman got into an epic drum-off with Animal during his episode?

I love all of these star showings, and I can't wait to see who shows up in February.
