Kimye Doesn't Have A Good History With Saints

by Lia Beck

Remember when Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their second child, and everything happened at a certain time, and Duchess Kate emerged from the hospital hours after giving birth to show us both her tiny baby's face and her glossy hair? Well, things don't exactly work like that here in the States. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their second child on Saturday without even a Telegraph liveblog of the hours she was in labor. Ridiculous! And then we get to Monday and the name "Saint West" is just thrown at us via Kardashian's website, and we're all left to fend for ourselves with this information. Does Saint even have a middle name? Where is Kris Jenner with the Kardashian version of the Kensington Palace Twitter account?!

Speaking of the name, there are a few major reasons that Kardashian and West should NOT have chosen it. And not only because it way too perfectly fits the egotistical personas they have made for themselves. The thing is that these two do not have the best history with Saints of any sort — well, other than the religious type. I'm just gonna assume that Kimye is fine on that front. Also, it's not quite as original as they may have thought. Perhaps if the couple had people in charge of their lives, the way Kate and Will do, they would've realized this.

Here are three major reasons Kardashian and West just might regret the name "Saint."

Pete Wentz

As you may recall if you keep up with Pete Wentz (hey, I don't know your life), the Fall Out Boy member's son with Meagan Camper is named Saint Lazslo. Pete Wentz was a year ahead of y'all. Do you think Kimye really wants to be living in the shadow of someone else's dream?

Reggie Bush

Kardashian's ex Reggie Bush, whom she dated for quite some time, famously played for the Saints. Her trips to New Orleans to visit him were documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians! Remember that time they helped that family after Hurricane Katrina?? I just picture her one day catching one of those KUWTK marathons and being like, "Damn! I didn't even make that connection and now I can't un-see it!"

Kanye's Feud With Saint Laurent

West's songs "Black Skinhead" and "I Am God" from Yeezus were both inspired by Saint Laurent (formerly Yves Saint Laurent) creative director Hedi Slimane. West claimed that Slimane would only let him attend his fashion show if he didn't go to any others, and the rapper had this to say to W Magazine :

Cause it’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the number-one living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix. You can’t say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can’t come to your show.

I guess the rapper turned this around so that he now associates Yves Saint Laurent with himself being a god. But still, you really wanna involve your kid in what is essentially a high fashion diss track?

I don't yet know the reason Kardashian and West named their child "Saint," other than that they think it's cool. But hopefully, they have a really good reason. One so good that they won't think of exes or feuds or Pete Wentz whenever they look at him.
