Jared Leto Is Sorry For Dissing Taylor Swift

by Nicole Pomarico

I am one of those people who gets inappropriately offended when someone insults one of my favorite celebrities, especially Taylor Swift, so I haven't been too pleased with Jared Leto lately. In case you haven't heard, he has a few choice words for the "Wildest Dreams" singer, and none of them are friendly. In a video recently released by TMZ, Leto was caught slamming Swift after listening to a few tracks from 1989, saying, "f—k her, I don't give a f—k about her." Um, rude? But now — after receiving all kinds of hate from her fans on Twitter about his remarks — Leto has apologized for his comments about Swift, and it sounds like this whole thing was blown way out of proportion.

Even though I find it difficult to understand how anyone could not love Taylor Swift, I can definitely see how Leto's words were taken the wrong way. After all, he was analyzing the style of 1989 in the video, and his negative comments could have been more about him deciding to set his own sound for Thirty Seconds to Mars instead of taking inspiration from somebody else. And now that he's taken to Twitter to apologize, it seems even more likely that this is the case.

Solid apology, Leto. I'll accept it. And even though Swift has had absolutely no reaction to this so far, if she had caught wind of what Leto had said before his apology, I have a feeling she would have changed his mind. If you haven't noticed, she's kind of the best at tactfully turning enemies into friends, and I'm convinced that if you hate Taylor Swift, it won't be long until you love her.

Need proof? Here are a few times this has happened before.

Lorde

Swift and Lorde are best friends now, but it wasn't always that way. At the start of her career, Lorde called Swift "so unattainable" to the point that it made her a bad role model while talking to Metro Magazine. So what happened to change her mind? As Swift later explained to Billboard, she had no idea that Lorde had insulted her and sent her flowers to congratulate her on the release of her first album. Lorde immediately felt guilty about the things she'd said, and the rest is history.

Kelly Osbourne

During an episode of Fashion Police, Osbourne mocked Swift by saying, "My biggest pet peeve about Taylor is that she walks on stage in front of 25,000 people and still goes, 'Me? You're here for me?' Of course, you're Taylor Swift, get over it!" Not too long after, she was spotted baking cookies in Swift's kitchen. Coincidence? My theory is that Swift won her over with cookies.

Nicki Minaj

Who could possibly forget the gigantic Twitter feud that happened between Swift and Minaj over the 2015 VMA nominations. But Swift ended up issuing Minaj a public apology, and then they performed together at the opening of the VMAs, because of course they did.

Kanye West

Even more unforgettable than the Swift/Minaj smackdown of '15 was that time Kanye West interrupted Swift at the VMAs. But at the 2015 Grammys, they officially buried the hatchet. They were spotted hugging and being surprisingly chummy during commercial breaks, and I have a feeling that fight has officially been put to rest... especially since Swift presented West with the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 VMAs.

And for all of these reasons, I still hold out hope that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry will someday be pals again, and gift humanity with a beautiful reunion performance. Please?
