They Were Filming Inside Tom's Restaurant

So, remember when Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander actually walked into Tom's Restaurant earlier this week — a.k.a., the diner from Seinfeld — and the Internet imploded? Right, well, turns out we finally have a reason for this mini sitcom reunion of sorts, and, surprisingly, it has nothing to do with Seinfeld's web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, as previously assumed. Turns out, according to Uproxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, and Seinfeld creator Larry David were filming a Super Bowl commercial.

In other words, they were filming what is probably going to be the best commercial ever.

Though there's been no official statement from anyone that it's for sure a Super Bowl commercial, the New York Daily News reports that production workers revealed what the shoot was for, and this video of Seinfeld and David leaving the diner from filmmaker Gian Franco Morini — who directed Tom’s Restaurant: A Documentary About Everything — is pretty much confirmation enough.

This is likely one of the first times that the trio has ever actually been together at the real Tom's Restaurant in NYC's Upper West Side: Though an exterior shot of the diner was used frequently in episodes of the series, the show filmed in LA, so the entire set was built on a sound stage. So, seeing these guys all here at once: Kind of legendary.

Check out the video below, as well as the original tweet of Seinfeld and Alexander being spotted walking into the diner.
