Streaming the Golden Globe Nominations Is Easy

by Laura Rosenfeld

Before shopping, holiday parties, and other merry activities fill your days for the next few weeks, we've got some serious business to take care of. The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC on Sunday, January 10 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and the nominations have yet to be announced. But since this time of year is frantic for everyone, you may just be too busy to sit at home and wait for this year's Golden Globe nominations to be revealed on TV (they've been announced during The TODAY Show broadcast in years past). That means you need to know how to stream the 2016 Golden Globe nominations online — and you need to figure that out fast.

Though live streaming actual awards shows can be hit or miss, it's easy to find out this year's Golden Globe nominations right when they're revealed through your Internet-connected device of choice. The nominations announcement will be live streamed directly from the Golden Globes' official website. The live stream begins on Thursday, December 10 at 8:15 a.m. ET/5:15 a.m. PT. So set your alarms, ladies and germs, because if you're really the movie and TV buff that you say you are, you're not going to want to wait a second longer to see who will be honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as the best in entertainment this year.

However you find out the 2016 Golden Globe nominations, just be sure that you do because it's always interesting to see which categories certain movies fall into. Unlike the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes' film categories cover either Drama or Comedy or Musical, which means that movies and actors being nominated can often be placed into surprising, strange, and seemingly inappropriate categories. Plus, the fact that this awards show honors both film and television means you're bound to find some names that look familiar to you and that you actually like among the nominees, whether you like entertainment from the big screen or the small screen the most.

Live streaming the 2016 Golden Globes nominations announcement is also a great way to start getting excited for this year's ceremony. And you should be because the Golden Globes are always super-entertaining, what with the ceremony being an actual dinner and all, meaning alcohol is served, meaning you can almost bet there will be at least one star that gets a little tipsy.

There's also the fact that Ricky Gervais is hosting the awards show for the fourth time this year. Though he is a polarizing figure, at least you know that his snarky brand of comedy will be something we'll all be talking about the next morning.

Though you could definitely spend a worse few hours of your time elsewhere, let's not forget that the best part about watching the Golden Globes is that it'll get you ready for the uber-prestigious awards show that wraps a nice bow around this year in film: the Academy Awards. Oftentimes, the Golden Globes gives us an idea of what movies are going to win big at the Oscars, and it's nice to know what films you need to see and which ones you should steer clear of before the big night.

And then shortly after this year's Golden Globes ceremony takes place, you'll be wondering how to stream the announcement for the 88th Annual Academy Awards nominations that come out on Thursday, January 14. Ah, you've got to love awards season.
