Real-Life Emojis Might Trigger Your Gag Reflex

by Kayleigh Roberts

Get ready for the creepiest, most disturbing thing you will see today. If you text and are under 50, there's a good chance you use emojis. Emojis can help communicate feelings or let you feel like an ancient Egyptian by communicating essentially in hieroglyphics. But what if emojis were real? Like, what if people's faces actually looked like emojis ? It's possible that you're the kind of sane, reasonable human being who has never wondered that before, but even if that's the case, I'm sure you're wondering it now.

Courtesy of Innocence en Danger, here are some more examples of real human faces morphed into emojis. They are even creepier than kissy face up there.

Meet Laughing So Hard I'm Crying guy. Get to know him well. He's the star of all of your future nightmares.

And here we have Mr. Winky with My Tongue Out. He's bald, just as he is an emoji, but instead of conveying playfulness, he conveys psychotic escaped mental patient.

So what's the point of these images? They might seem stupidly pointless, but they were actually created to raise awareness about stranger danger online and via text. Innocence en Danger is an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children from sexual abuse. The idea is to draw attention to the lesson Smart Guy taught our generation long ago: You don't know who you're really talking to on the Internet. It's not a bad lesson for adults, either. Next time you're sexting with that "hottie" from Tinder or OKCupid, just imagine Mr. Winky on the other end. But more importantly, pass these hauntingly creepy images onto any impression tweens and teens you know since it might be the most memorable and effective stranger danger campaign ever created.
