Chrissy Teigen Really, Really Loves 'Pump Rules'

by Kristie Rohwedder

During Monday night's episode of the work of art that is Vanderpump Rules , Bravo super fan and accomplished magician Chrissy Teigen shared a beautiful sentiment with the Twitterverse: “How #pumprules doesn't have a golden globe nomination is beyond me. It is the happiest hour of my life.” The Lip Sync Battle cohost raises a great question: How and why did the GGs snub the gorgeous series that is Vanderpump Rules? After all, it is easily one of the best shows to ever grace the small screen. How could the HFP overlook such an objectively perfect piece of programming?

“Because,” you begin, “the Hollywood Foreign Press doesn’t hand out a Best Reality Show award. You can’t nominate a show for an award that doesn’t exist.” Ah. Fair point. Unlike the Emmys, the Golden Globes do not have any reality TV categories. (However, if there was ever a reason for the Globes to finally create a Best Unscripted Reality Show category, it’s Vanderpump Rules.) Looks like a dead end, right? WRONG! I say Pump Rules deserves to be nominated for the existing television awards. Yes, I believe in my heart of hearts that it is good enough to compete against any critically acclaimed scripted series. Pump Rules transcends genre.

“Do you even hear yourself? For starters, you do realize that'd be against the rules, right?” you reply. “Reality shows do not meet the eligibility requirements. Just let this go, you bag of nuts.”

Me? Let go of my obsession with Vanderpump Rules? NEVER. I want to live in a world where Pump Rulesis nominated for Best Television Series. I want to live in a world where Jax Taylor is nominated for Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series — Drama and forBest Performance By An Actor In A Television Series — Musical or Comedy. I want to live in a world where the SUR goat cheese balls are nominated for Best Performance By An Inanimate Object In A Supporting Roll In A Series, Limited Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television.

You and me both, C. Teigs. You and me both.
