Check Out These 'Ghostbusters' Character Posters

by Michelle Lulic

Who you gonna call? Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones! These ladies are ready to take over the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters officially with the newly released character posters for the summer blockbuster. Earlier on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly, People, Time, and InStyle magazines all released exclusive Ghostbusters character posters of the four leading ladies along with an inside-look movie still from the film. Not only did they get us all super excited for the summer, but they also got us ready to pick up the phone and dial for our favorite ladies.

The posters show each one of the ghostbusters, obviously, but there have also been small tidbits about each of their characters released by the film's Director Paul Feig (best-known for directing the hit comedy Bridesmaids). He gives us a descriptive overview of the characters and jobs that will be played and held by each one of these comedy powerhouses, and that makes me so excited to find out more. These pictures and characters not only throw us right back into the world we fell in love with in the original 1984 film, but also help promote the kinds of new, outlandish characters we might find protecting us from ghosts this summer.

Check out their individual character descriptions and the posters below.

Kristen Wiig As Erin Gilbert

According to Feig, Erin Gilbert is a “particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior." I'm not sure what most of those words mean, but ghosts should beware already.

Melissa McCarthy As Abby Yates

Apparently, Abby Yates is a "paranormal researcher, supernatural scientist, entity trapper." So, basically, I want to be her.

Kate McKinnon As Jillian Holtzmann

How many women do you know who are a "nuclear engineer, munitions expert, proton wrangler" like Jillian Holtzmann? Maybe one or two, but all three?

Leslie Jones As Patty Tolan

And, of course, the amazing Jones will play "ghost tracker, municipal historian, metaphysical commando" Patty Tolan, rounding out the team with more badassery than I should reasonably be expected to deal with.

Ghostbusters is set to come out this summer on Jul. 15, 2016. From these posters alone, I'm ready to buy my ticket.
