On Sunday evening, a car crash on the Las Vegas Strip stunned both visitors and locals. According to NBC affiliate KSNV News, up to 20 pedestrians were injured. The crash happened at around 6:40 p.m. local time on Las Vegas Boulevard near Paris Hotel & Casino and Planet Hollywood. Update: Police confirmed that at least one person died and another 37 were injured during the incident. The driver of the car has been identified as Lakeisha N. Holloway. Holloway will be charged with one count of murder. A motive has not yet been conclusively established.

The exact number of casualties, including the number of deaths, was not immediately known.

KSNV reports that a woman with a 3-year-old child in the car plowed in a group of people walking on the Strip and caused the mass casualty incident. She allegedly drove away from the scene and turned herself in at the nearby Tuscany Suites & Casino. According to the news station, the suspected driver is taking a field sobriety test. It was not immediately clear whether this was a case of drunk driving.

Las Vegas Boulevard is closed in both directions between Harmon Avenue and Flamingo Road, according to officials. Not far from the site of the crash is the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where the Miss Universe pageant was taking place.
