Steve Harvey To Host Miss Universe Again — REPORT

Whether you're a truther or believer, this probably comes as no surprise. According to Entertainment Tonight, Steve Harvey will reportedly host future Miss Universe competitions per a multi-year deal signed before his infamous gaffe that crowned the wrong winner. Citing a source close to production, ET reports the contract is for at least three more competitions and could be for as long as six or seven years. Bustle's request to Harvey for comment was not returned Tuesday evening.

In the final moment of the competition, Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as Miss Universe before returning to the stage minutes later to admit he had made a mistake. The 58-year-old entertainer then revealed Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, was the true winner, and he took full responsibility for the blunder. The truly cringeworthy moment immediately lit the internet on fire, and yes, chaos ensued.

While some have discredited Harvey's mistake as intentional (and a huge PR win for the Miss Universe organization), I choose to believe it was an honest mistake. Harvey's apology was more than heartfelt and really showed how horrible he felt about the mistake. And one look at the winner's card shows how easily a person could have misread the layout. Steve, I got you.

As mortifying as the situation likely was, though, the mistake cemented the Miss Universe competition as the top headline the following day and piqued interest from all across the world, something that arguably would not have happened had everything gone as planned.
