10 Hair Trends To Explore In 2016

by Sienna Fantozzi

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to start thinking about New Year's, and that always brings with it resolutions, new beginnings, and fresh starts. It's the perfect time to reinvent yourself or switch up your look, and there's no better way to do that than with a hair makeover. But before you hit the salon, you might what to consider these hair trends to try in 2016. They were so popular in 2015, that they definitely bear repeating.

When it comes to making a drastic hair change, if you know what you like and what works for you, then totally run with it, but if you need some additional inspiration, then it definitely helps to look at what the most popular hair trends were of the past year. That way, you know your style will be modern, on trend, and fresh. And really, there's no better indicator of what's hot than Hollywood, right?

There were a lot of celebrity hair transformations in 2015, and I think we can all agree what the most popular was (the bob), but there were definitely some other trends that surfaced as well.

If you're in the mood to switch up your look, consider trying these hair trends in 2016.

1. The Bob

I think this one pretty much speaks for itself, but Hollywood has fallen in love with bobs. From Adele to Kylie Jenner to Khloe Kardashian and more, there's no end to chin-length hair inspiration.

2. The Lob

For those who want to make a chop without going as short as a bob, the lob is the perfect medium — just ask Jennifer Lawrence and Hilary Duff.

3. Platinum

This year, we learned that platinum blondes have more fun, thanks to Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence, and Beyonce.

4. Red

If you don't feel like lightening up, 2015 was the year Hollywood completely embraced red. Lauren Conrad and Jaime King took their signature blonde hair red this fall.

5. Dip-Dyed

Gwen Stefani and Iggy Azalea demonstrate how to do the much more colorful version of "ombre."

6. Bangs

When Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham get bangs, you know it's a trend that might be worth copying.

7. Bright Colors

Kylie Jenner has rocked just about every color of the rainbow this year, but she isn't the only one. Miranda Lambert dyed her hair pink, Hilary Duff had mermaid blue hair, and Julianne Hough tried bubble gum hair.

8. Pixie

Though bobs and lobs were all the rage this year, there were plenty of stars who still have love for the pixie cut, like Clare Bowen and Rita Ora.

9. Bronde

This hair color even got the Queen of blonde herself, Blake Lively's, seal of approval.

10. Natural

From Lupita N'yongo rocking her natural hair at the 2015 Oscar's to Victoria's Secret including natural hair in their annual fashion show, 2015 proved you should embrace yourself just as you are.
