The Image That Defined Each Month Of 2015

2015, it's been real. HAGS. You rock, don't ever change. Whatever else I scribbled into my classmates' yearbooks in elementary school, the same goes to you. It's been real, but it's time to peace out and make room for 2016. It's not that you weren't a good year. In regards to pop culture, you provided a plentiful year of celebrity, television, and film moments that we'll be talking about for years to come. So, thank you for that. In fact, there are enough moments that happened this year to make a 2015 pop culture calendar, each month anchored with one huge moment in the entertainment industry. So, I did just that.

A round-up of the biggest pop culture moments in 2015 will remind you just how varied our world can be. The list is made up of highs and lows, but they have one thing in common: they were widely talked about. Even if you're not a frequent Twitter user, you probably tweeted about one of these things throughout the year. So what moments from 2015 make the pop culture calendar? Here are the biggest and most talked about moments, represented in photos, for each month of 2015 that would lead each month.

January

The 2015 Golden Globes took place in January — hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — which celebrated the biggest achievements in film and television. Like when Bradley Cooper cradled a fake baby in American Sniper.

February

Sorry to bring it up again, but #TheDress was February's most defining image and moment. Sorry, Left Shark. It was a close call.

March

2015 was the year of break-ups, but perhaps the biggest "break-up" was Zayn Malik leaving One Direction.

April

April was the big reveal for Hillary Clinton, who announced her (much-awaited) run for president in the 2016 election.

May

After over 4,000 episodes, David Letterman said goodbye to the Ed Sullivan theater and ended the Late Show with David Letterman.

June

Possibly one of the biggest photos of the year, Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair.

July

Ah, doughnutgate, what a time to be alive. Pop singer Ariana Grande got herself in a bit of hot water when a doughtnut store's video footage allegedly showed her licking doughnuts she wasn't buying.

August

Kanye West announced his presidential bid for the 2020 election during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. As one does.

September

September belonged to the rat that was all of us, just trying to catch the L Train, without losing your slice of pizza.

October

In October, Drake released the music video for "Hotline Bling" and nothing was the same.

November

Shia LaBeouf watched all of his movies in a New York theater and live-streamed the entire thing, and now we'll forever have a reaction image on hand for the rest of our lives.

December

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released just in time for the new year and breaks, like, one billion records.

So, there you have it. The 2015 pop culture calendar told by images. I'd say 2016 has a lot to live up to.
