'7 Little Johnstons' Is Hopefully Not Going Away

by Laura Rosenfeld

It's always sad when the season finale of a show you like arrives. However, with the Season 2 finale of 7 Little Johnstons airing on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 10 p.m. ET, I can't help but think, This season is over already? Season 2 of the show about what TLC says is the world's largest known family of people with Anchondroplasia dwarfism only premiered on Nov. 10. But oh well. That's TV for you. Now the nail biting begins over whether or not there will be a Season 3 of 7 Little Johnstons , and if so, when that will be.

TLC has not yet made an official announcement regarding the fate of 7 Little Johnstons. However, I'm not too worried about the show's chances of living to see another season.

For one thing, TLC seems to like having 7 Little Johnstons on the air. Although the Johnstons first found a home on OWN in a reality series with the same title in 2013, they eventually moved over to TLC in January 2015 before getting a Season 1 premiere of the show on March 31. As previously mentioned, TLC then churned out a second season of the show starting on Nov. 10. Two seasons of 7 Little Johnstons will have come and gone in the span of nine months upon the completion of Season 2 Tuesday night. The speed with which TLC has filmed and aired two seasons of 7 Little Johnstons makes me fairly confident the series will return for Season 3 by Spring or Summer 2016.

We also all know how TLC loves to feature families with lifestyles you don't see every day in its programming. With some of its long-running series revolving around families embroiled in controversy as of late, such as Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, 19 Kids and Counting, and Sister Wives, the network is definitely in need of some entertaining yet still wholesome family-centric programming to take the place of some of its recently departed shows. Perhaps 7 Little Johnstons could be the next TLC docuseries to run for years and years.

But of course, the subjects of the series have to want to sign on for another season for any new episodes to arrive in the future. Fortunately for fans of 7 Little Johnstons, this family seems more than game to star in another season of the show. The Johnstons' official Twitter account recently tweeted that they "hope and would be so honored" if TLC brought the show back for Season 3.

Whether or not we see 7 Little Johnstons on our TV screens again, one thing is for sure: The family has definitely won the hearts of millions of Americans during its time on TV thus far. Hopefully TLC keeps this fun-loving, tough, and admirable family on TV for at least another season or else the network could have a lot of angry fans on its hands.
