It's The Perfect Time For More 'Kill Bill'

by Emily Lackey

It’s been the rumored talk of the town for years now, but when Quentin Tarantino spoke exclusively to Variety about possibly making Kill Bill 3 , I started dreaming about plot lines and fight sequences. Because let's be real: there has never been a better time for a Kill Bill sequel.

It’s been 12 years since Kill Bill Vol. 1 was released in theaters nationwide and received the critical acclaim that helped it gross $180.9 million worldwide. And it’s been 11 years since The Bride was last seen in its sequel, Kill Bill Vol. 2. Since then, there have been rumors and hints that there might be another movie in the works, but nothing has ever been officially confirmed. But, on Wednesday, Variety released segments of an interview with Tarantino in which the filmmaker admitted to seriously considering making another film. “I’m not committing to it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance because the whole thing is said and done,” Tarantino said. He then continued, saying that he is in the process of talking to Uma Thurman about the idea.

Well, kill me sideways with a Hanzo sword, because that sounds like a pretty good indication that another Kill Bill movie could one day be in the works. And, really, there has never been a better time for it — just think about how much the world has changed in the last 11 years. We need another Kill Bill, and there are plenty of reasons why the time is right to make it now.

1. Because Right Now It’s All About The Ladies

With more and more women speaking out about everything from sexual harassment in the workplace to the gender wage gap, the world is abuzz with the issues facing women today. Which means there’s never been a better time to have a sequel about a woman who kicks serious ass.

2. Because Tarantino Could Get Back To His Roots

Lately, Tarantino has seemed to focus on historical works as opposed to projects like the ones he started out with — Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill Vol. 1. It’s cool and all, but it’s time for him to get back to his roots and blow our minds with his cinematic vision.

3. Because There Is So Much Potential For Awesome Cameos

Just think of the actresses in Hollywood today that the world would go nuts over if they appeared in cameos. Anna Kendrick as a villain? Jennifer Lawrence as Beatrix’s long lost daughter? Really, the list of actresses who would slay in Kill Bill Vol. 3 is endless.

4. Because I’ve Been Wondering For Forever What The Bride Is Up To

And, honestly, I’m sick of waiting.

5. Because Tarantino Has Some Stuff That Didn’t Make It Into The Original Movie

In his conversation with Variety , Tarantino said he was thinking about using some of the stuff he had written for the original films and never used in the third installment. Um, yeah dude. DO THAT.

5. Because The World Needs More Uma Thurman In It

Always and forever. The original badass chick.

6. Because The World Is Loving Badass Chicks

It’s never been a better time to write strong female characters that just so happen to be seriously flawed. With female antiheroes popping up in the mainstream like Jessica Jones, the time is seriously right for Beatrix to make her ass kicking return.

7. Because You Finally Got This Song Out Of Your Head

It took years, but you did it. Now, 11 years later, it’s back. You’re welcome.

Now excuse me while I go pull out my samurai sword and wait until the third film is officially confirmed.
