This Is How Everyone Can Rock The Ballerina Trend

by Katharine McEntee

Feathers are infiltrating the fashion scene, making their way from the Paris runways to the fashionable cast of Scream Queens. And now they are taking over the blogosphere, starting with Callie Thorpe of From The Corners Of The Curve. Thorpe, a London-based fashion blogger, is known for sporting all of the latest trends. From batwing sleeve dresses to edgy moto jackets, she leaves no of-the-moment look unturned. And on New Year's Eve, Thorpe solidified her trendsetter status yet again by donning a classic ballerina style dress adorned with, you guessed it, feathers.

As temperatures drop, I tend to pile on as much clothing as possible, so dressing like a ballerina just doesn’t sound appealing. However, Thorpe proved me wrong as she fearlessly fought the cold in this ultra-femme frock from Elvi's Prima Collection. While the feather hem took this look to the next level, the sheer sleeves made it slightly more practical for the colder months that lie ahead.

If you, like me, are thinking about adopting the ballerina trend into your wardrobe, try dressing up the look like Thorpe with vintage gold accessories and heels, or going full-on ballerina with a pair of tights and ballet flats. Either way you style it, you can’t go wrong.

Thorpe's ability to turn a simple trend like ballerina dressing into a spectacular outfit is truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to add a ballerina-esque piece to my winter rotation. If you are a fan of this feminine and flirty style, scroll down to see some of the best ballerina pieces on the market.
