Why Oscar Isaacs Already Won The Golden Globes

by Michelle Lulic

For the past two award seasons, Oscar Isaac has nabbed the attention of audiences with his performance in films like Inside Llewyn Davis (which, it's worth noting, he nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for) and A Most Violent Year. But, unfortunately, his work just hasn't seemed to gain the amount of media traction that it seemingly should have. However, 2015 was undoubtedly yet another huge year for the Juilliard alum. With his memorable role as Poe Dameron in the record-breaking film Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens , his totally flawless performance in the sci-fi thriller Ex Machina, and his Golden Globe-nominated performance as Nick Wasicsko in the HBO mini-series Show Me A Hero, he's not letting 2015 go by without getting the recognition he deserves. Even if he walks away empty handed during NBC's Sunday, Jan. 10 presentation of the Golden Globe Awards (which I'm really hoping he doesn't), Oscar Isaac is the true winner of the 2015 Golden Globes.

Why? Well, because Isaac made a lasting impression on the industry that is bound to continue throughout 2016 and beyond. And we already know for a fact that we'll be seeing him around way more than we already have! Some of the films he's set to be in soon include 2016's Terry George film The Promise — in which he'll be acting alongside Christian Bale, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Charlotte Le Bon — a breakout role as En Sabah Nur (or, colloquially, Apocalypse) in yet another franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, and the return of of Poe Dameron in 2017's Star Wars: Episode VIII. So yeah... all of this buzz really seems to be only the beginning. Plus, in addition to all of this, he seems to understand the most important thing of all: The importance of the work itself. In a statement to EFE, Isaac said:

"I am happy," he said in a statement to EFE regarding his 2016 Golden Globe nomination, "It is not easy to tell stories that are so hard, but in the end they are the most important."

Just... all the yes. Honestly, I could watch nothing but his acting every single day and never get tired of him. And he has even more talent than you may have first imagined: As Inside Llewyn Davis proved, he also has some straight-up inspiring musical abilities.

So, yeah, Isaac is already a winner in my book. And if you haven't already seen his performance in Show Me A Hero, here's a look at the trailer.

However, let's not get too ahead of ourselves here — there's still a pretty good chance that Isaac will walk away with the shiny Golden Globe statue for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Show Me A Hero. Plus, the Academy Awards nominations still haven't been announced!

But, if for some reason it's not meant to be this year, I'm feeling pretty confident that there will be plenty more award seasons in his future. Win or lose, this was totally Isaac's year for that reason alone.
