LOL-Worthy '90s Makeup Looks From The Globes

by Sienna Fantozzi

We're all pretty into the whole '90s nostalgia thing these days, but let's be honest, there are some things from that era that should just stay in the past, like some seriously questionable '90s makeup looks from The Golden Globes. I mean, did we really used to think skinny brows were cool? Oh, how times have changed.

The 2016 Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday night, and the fashion is almost as important as the actual award part of the show. While we anticipate what our favorite stars will end up wearing this weekend, it might be fun to throwback (like, way, way back), to the '90s to revisit some of the more statement making looks from the decade, because who doesn't love a little '90s nostalgia in their life, am I right?

Now to be fair, not all the looks were bad. Julia Roberts's bouncing curls and fresh-faced makeup were adorbs in 1990, and in 1999, Angelina Jolie looked like a glowing goddess. So there is definitely some inspiration to be had from the decade...but there were also plenty to giggle about.

Check out the eight most LOL-worthy makeup looks from the Golden Globes in the '90s.

1. Kate Winslet

I'm so glad we've graduated from skinny brows to brows on fleek.

2. Jennifer Lopez

Remember when brown lipstick was a thing?

3. Goldie Hawn

We went a little heavy handed on the blue shadow back in the day.

4. Friends Cast

Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox actually look pretty chic, but Lisa Kudrow is on eyeshadow overload.

5. Cate Blanchett

Skinny brows and shimmery under-lined eyes...totally not what I'd expect from Queen Cate.

6. Gwyneth Paltrow

Dark lipstick, dark shadow, and a whole lot of blush — not a look you'd see on the Goop goddess these days!

7. Keri Russell

Her eyes and lips are fresh and natural, but those blush circles, though!

8. Cameron Diaz

She went hard with the grunge shadow...also, crunchy hair trend!

9. Helen Hunt

Helen Hunt went HAM on that shimmer shadow, both above and below her eyes. At least she looked extra glowy?

I wonder what 2016 beauty trends we'll be lol'ing about 20 years from now. (Contouring, anyone?)
