Charlotte's Role Could Change In 'PLL' Season 6B

by Kaitlin Reilly

Pretty Little Liars fans had plenty of feelings about the Season 6A finale. Obviously, that was to be expected: the finale was also the episode where we found out A's real identity, and pretty much everyone flipped over the reveal. The person in the black hoodie was revealed to be none other than CeCe Drake, Ali's older friend and, in many ways, mentor in lying. That was shocking on its own, but it was the second part of the reveal was what had everyone picking their jaws up off the floor. CeCe Drake was actually Charlotte DiLaurentis, Alison's long lost sister who spent the majority of her life in Radley Sanitarium. Though Charlotte's final act as A was to blow up Radley, the Liars thwarted the plan and ultimately saved her from herself — thus ending A's reign of terror. So will Charlotte appear in Pretty Little Liars Season 6B? She isn't going anywhere.

We already know that Charlotte will be making at least one appearance in Season 6B from the promo videos. She is seen with Alison, asking if certain people (seemingly the Liars) are still "upset" with her. Considering that Alison stayed in Rosewood when her friends left so she could care for her sister, it seems obvious that Charlotte's presence will be seen when the series returns in January. However, just how much we'll see of Charlotte might depend on the validity of a pretty dark fan theory. And for more theories, check out Bustle's PLL podcast, Taking This One To The Grave.

While the girls will have enjoyed "five A-free years" when Pretty Little Liars returns, their peaceful existence likely won't last forever. I. Marlene King told MTV News that there is a new Big Bad out there, who is fueled by a death. Coupling that with the fact that the Liars are holding a coffin in the new Season 6B poster, it seems that the girls know the person who will be offed early in Season 6B. The person who some fans think is most likely to be on the chopping block is none other than Charlotte herself.

Charlotte represents the original A story, which will have been put to rest by the time the second half of Season 6 begins. Charlotte may still be in the picture, but unless she's seriously playing Alison, it looks like she'll be more friend than foe. The odd thing about that is that some of the episode titles for Season 6B seem to reference her, such as "Charlotte's Web" and "Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars," which is seemingly a reference to the film Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte. If she's not the series' villain, perhaps she'll be its next victim.

We will see Charlotte in the Season 6B premiere, so there's a chance that this theory is just that. Still, someone is dying in the new season, and with a new villain on the rise, Pretty Little Liars may be done with its old one.
