Celeb Fashion From The Early 2000s For Tonight

by Julia Musto

It was an odd time for fashion, but some early '00s celebrity fashion trends are definitely still hot in the New York City streets today. In every decade there are remnants and shadows of past fashion. Designers are shaped and influenced by previous styles every day. In 2015 alone the '70s and the '90s were all the rage. But why, for the love of god, are we revisiting the early '00s? In my mind, that era was arguably the least stylish.

However, it has recently come to my attention that today's fashion trends are starting to take queues from the '90s. This would mean that the early '00s. Soon enough, it will be all jewels, satin, cargo pants, flared jeans, skinny scarves, halter tops, and huge hoop earrings. Cords will be the new wide legs, and frosted tips the new ombre. Before you get all upset on me, allow me to remind you that some looks from that time are actually pretty timeless and awesome.

If what goes around comes around, we definitely had this one coming. So, in preparation for the Bring It On/90210/The O.C./Laguna Beach apocalypse, here is a look back at amazing celebrity fashion moments that you can wear when you go to brunch this weekend.

1. Velour Tracksuits

Athleisure is in right now, and what's more athleisure than a casual velour zip up?

2. Halter Dresses

Mariah Carey kills in her go-to red, but it was a halter dress instead of strapless back in the early '00s. I'm pretty sure she'd still rock this.

3. Sheen, Shimmer, and Metallics

Kate Hudson at the 2002 Golden Globes is everything you want and everything you need in a slinky, shimmery, floor-length dress.

4. White-On-White

Jessica Alba and NCIS stud Michael Weatherley pull off the classy matching black and white thing in suits.

5. Cut-Outs

Charlize Theron rocked this sick black cut-out dress to the 2001 Golden Globes; I could totally see celebs in this style now.

6. Natural Makeup

Mischa Barton in 2001 looks fresh faced and runway ready.

7. Adidas

Hey, hey, hey, she's what's happening. So are Adidas right now thanks to the influence of Jeremy Scott, Kylie Jenner, and Kanye West.

8. Skinny Scarf

The skinny scarf was a NYFW staple, as well as a Nicole Richie staple.

9. Crop Top

This long-sleeved black crop top was way, way, ahead of its time. You know, sans cargo pants.

10. All Jean Looks

Canadian tuxedo chic.

SJP's MTV Movie Awards look would definitely be a Kim Kardashian favorite.

12. Corset Tops

Corset tops have put everyone in a bind for hundreds of years and they aren't going out of style any time soon.

13. Crimped Hair

Beyonce is a trend in any decade. Also, her hair is still as #FLAWLESS as ever.

14. One Button

Tara Reid in this open shirt is so early 2000's it makes my eyes bleed, but you do you in 2016. That's the lesson here.

15. White Ruffles

Jamie King is perfect throughout the decades. Who else can't believe that she's a mama?

16. Matching Two Pieces

Jessica Simpson looks totally Coachella ready in this MTV Movie Awards ensemble. Seriously, I would wear that.

I'd say, take a hard look at your wardrobe in middle school and replicate! You never know what trend you're going to bring back some day.
