Jamie Foxx Gives 'Straight Outta Compton' A Globe

When this year's nominations were announced, many fans noticed that the 2016 Golden Globes snubbed Straight Outta Compton, not nominating the acclaimed N.W.A. biopic for a single award. During Sunday night's broadcast, one presenter decided to right that wrong himself, as Jamie Foxx said Straight Outta Compton won the Golden Globe for Best Score, when again, it wasn't even nominated. As soon as he announced the "winner," however, Foxx made it clear that he was mocking Steve Harvey's now infamous Miss Universe slip-up, saying, "I’m sorry folks, I made a mistake... it was right here on the card," just like Harvey did. Though Foxx may have planned this as a bit, he made a very good point: Straight Outta Compton should've won Best Score, or at least been recognized in the category.

As the true story of a groundbreaking rap group, music was at the center of Straight Outta Compton, showing how the group created the songs that would go on to define them, and spawn multiple decades-long careers. The movie featured the perfect mix of recording studio moments, live concerts, and simple moments between Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella as they came up with their future hits. If the Golden Globes couldn't recognize that with a nomination, the least they could do was mention Straight Outta Compton during the broadcast. Watch Foxx read the "winner" of Best Score below, before eventually revealing that The Hateful Eight composer Ennio Morricone actually took home the prize.

He really could've left the moment there, making everyone remember the snubbed film, but instead he followed it with the Miss Universe reference.

Maybe at the Oscars, Straight Outta Compton's name will be announced for the right reason.
