Celebs Mourn The Loss Of Alan Rickman

On Thursday, Jan. 14, the world lost another great talent when Alan Rickman died at age 69 in London. The actor's family released a statement to BBC News, confirming the news and which reveals his cause of death: "The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends."

Rickman's acting career spanning several decades, starting in the late '70s and including roles in films such as Die Hard, Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, and the role perhaps most people under the age of 30 know him best for, Snape in all eight Harry Potter movies. He was a very talented actor, which, if you haven't seen his films, is perhaps best shown by the number of awards he's won. Throughout his career, the London-born actor won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, an Emmy, and SAG Award, among others.

Because of the extent of his work, Rickman has worked with a wide variety of actors and had an effect on even more. Following the news of his death, many of these fellow celebrities took a moment to mourn Rickman and share their thoughts with others feeling the same way on social media.
