Emma Watson Pays Tribute To Alan Rickman

by Nicole Pomarico

As Harry Potter fans woke up Thursday morning to the heartbreaking news that Alan Rickman has died, those who were involved with the making of the film series are beginning to share their own memories of the man who brought Severus Snape to life. Early in the morning, author J.K. Rowling tweeted about Rickman's death, and Daniel Radcliffe was soon to follow. It didn't take long before Emma Watson shared her own tribute to Rickman on Facebook. It's clear that the entire HP community is mourning this loss together.

And although Rickman, who was 69, had been battling cancer, the news of his death is still very surprising. But in his life, he had such an influence on the people who watched his films and worked with him that it's not surprising at all that so many people are coming forward with nothing but wonderful things to say about him. In her post, Watson talked about how much she's going to miss the conversations she once had with her former costar, and expressed how lucky she felt to have had the opportunity to work with him. It was a short message, but it's easy to see that her words are sincere.

Watson also took to Twitter to share a quote from Rickman on being a feminist as a man — an issue that has remained close to her heart since she launched her He For She campaign in 2014.

It's heartbreaking to see how many people are devastated about the loss of Rickman, but it just goes to show the profound effect his life and his talent had on those who knew him. He may be gone, but it's obvious that he will never be forgotten.
