Jennifer Aniston Was Straight From The '90s

by Maxine Builder

Showing up on the arm of her husband Justin Theroux, Jennifer Aniston at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards was totally giving us '90s vibes. There's no question that this is Jennifer Aniston on the Critics Choice Award carpet, not Rachel Green, but with the recent announcement that there's an upcoming Friends reunion in the works, Aniston's look a very welcome reminder of all of the things that were great about the '90s and why we fell in love with her fashion in the first place.

There's something delightfully '90s about Aniston's light blue dress without looking like a costume or a complete time warp. The cut of this dress is simple, long and sleek, like those slip dresses of days past, and the neckline with the slight ruffles would make Cher Horowitz from Clueless proud. The color also totally matches her eyes, as well as the unconventional blue carpet. But the thigh-high slit keeps the look from making her look like it's 1999. With her all-natural makeup, pairing dewey skin and a nude lip with tight-lined eyes, and beachy blonde waves, Aniston has also definitely steered clear of some of the worst '90s makeup looks and beauty trends, like chunky highlights. All of this keeps her looking modern, while still paying homage to the best of an era that's passed.

Aniston's husband Theroux wasn't a slouch at the Critics Choice Awards this year, either, wearing a simple black tux with a skinny black tie, for another, potentially unintentional, update on a classic '90s trend.

Though she might not have meant to do it, Aniston definitely got me excited for the return of Friends with this light blue, slightly retro get-up, and I can only hope the reunion will be as tastefully updated as this look.
