Alicia Vikander's Totally Elegant & Funky Look

by Eliza Florendo

Alright, Alicia, enough is enough — You can't keep nailing every single look at award shows, ok? She's giving us a run for our money, especially tonight, as Alicia Vikander at the 2016 Critics Choice Awards perfectly mixes elegant and fun in the same dress. Yes, people, it's actually possible to mix the two. Consider me colored surprised.

If you're not familiar with Vikander's work, do yourself a favor and get your research on. My recommendation? Watch Ex Machina first. But not before bed (that's what I did, and I was so creeped out, I couldn't sleep for hours). So far, tonight, she's won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Danish Girl, getting up on stage and accepting her award in her perfect ensemble. She also accepted Alex Garland's award for Best Original Screenplay for Ex Machina (so you know my recommendation has some merit in it).

Vikander is like that understated cool girl who's style I would kill for. I'm talking lots of embroidery, jeweled pieces, clashing prints, and yes, ascots. This woman is not afraid to take some serious fashion risks but always seems to pull it off. To say I'm jealous is definitely a gross understatement.

Tonight, Vikander's bejeweled fitted gown immediately caught my eye as soon as I saw her walk on stage. With a super flattering neckline cropped layer, and side paneling, it was the most complicated, insanely fun dress I had seen this evening. Who knew that so many different elements could come together?

I mean, that's just the top half. Wait until you see the full dress.

Are you serious with how cool this dress is, Alicia? You're killing me over here. Considered me floored — This is tied with her Louis Vuitton dress she wore to the Golden Globes for my favorite look of hers (which is seriously hard to beat). Damn, girl, you did it again!
