'Fuller House' Creator Won't Give Up On Michelle

by Michelle Lulic

Full House fans around the world had their hearts broken when it was announced that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would not be reprising their role as Michelle in the upcoming Netflix reboot, Fuller House. However, don't put on that famous Michelle-pout just yet. Because it seems as if Full House creator, Jeff Franklin, isn't ready to throw in the towel on one of America's most-beloved characters either. In fact, during a press conference at the Television Critics Association on Sunday, Jan. 17, Jeff Franklin made it very clear that he is fighting to get Michelle in Season 2 of Fuller House (assuming that they get a Season 2, that is). And what makes this battle just a tad bit easier? Well, he's betting on at least one of the two actresses-turned-fashion-designers to step up to the plate.

“I tried, we all tried to persuade them to come and play. They decided not to at this time," Franklin reiterated at the Television Critics Association panel, "We’re hopeful at some point in the future that they may change their minds and come back and reprise Michelle. We only need one of them, so we’re still hopeful that that will happen.” Yep, you heard that right. The fight is not over. Just like fans, Franklin is not just going to sit back and let this entire opportunity pass the show by. How amazing is that?!

However, in the meantime, Franklin — along with the rest of the fans and cast — are forced to make the most out of Season 1's Michelle-less situation. And, honestly, given that there's a Full House reboot in the the first place, we really can't complain all too much.

"I’m sure we’ve all had family reunions and not everyone shows up," Franklin said, "But we still love them and the door is always open and I hope it happens.” That just makes everything sounds so much better, right?

But Full House fans... Don't get too carried away. First, we must prepare ourselves for the inevitable truth of watching season one of Fuller House with absolutely no Michelle in sight. All 13 episodes of Fuller House season one will be up on Netflix as of Feb. 26. We can make it through Michelle-less... Hopefully.
