Relive 'Creed' Sooner Than You Think

by Kaitlin Reilly

If the official mark of a newly-minted star is the ability to step into an icon's shoes seamlessly, then Michael B. Jordan has officially elevated his Hollywood status with his latest feature. Jordan's film Creed , which hit theaters in November, starred the young actor as Adonis "Donnie" Johnson, the son of heavyweight boxing champion Apollo Creed. Apollo, Rocky Balboa's initial rival and later good friend, was killed in the ring during Rocky IV, and therefore only makes an appearance in spirit in the new film that bears his name. Jordan's character, however, is not deterred by his father's tragic fate, and decides to pursue a boxing career of his own — and asks his father's friend Rocky to train him. Though it's a little late now to see this underdog story in theaters, eager viewers may be able to catch Creed on Netflix when it comes to the streaming site, and if the film's 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes is any indication, it will be well worth the wait.

That may be so, but when exactly will Creed hit Netflix? Unfortunately, the answer to that is currently still unknown. Though the website On DVD Release suggests that the estimated arrival date will be March 29, 2016, Netflix does not release a full schedule for the year, so while you may be able to find out that it's coming a month or so prior to its debut, there isn't anything currently that can tell you an exact date Creed will arrive. However, that doesn't mean that you necessarily have to wait for the question mark that is Netflix to check out the new film — or find the one movie theater that might still be playing it. There are other ways to watch Creed that will hopefully reduce your wait time — and your Creed-induced FOMO.

First and foremost, according to Movie Insider, you may not have to wait very long until Creed is out on DVD. According to the site, films tend to get released on DVD anywhere between two and a half and four months after their theatrical release date. Since Creed hit theaters in mid November, it's likely that the film will get the DVD treatment sometime around late February to mid March. Sure, that's still over a month away, but that wait hardly seems excruciating.

Of course, if you're not super into shelling out cash for a DVD, there are other ways to score Creed. Many On Demand services also offer new movies around the same time that they are released on DVD, and in some cases a few days or weeks earlier. On Demand services often offer rental options, which can save you major bucks on a movie you don't plan on watching more than once. You can also score rental deals on Amazon and iTunes, often for under five dollars for a 24-hour rental period. That's a knockout price to pay for the acclaimed film.

While you may have to wait a while for Creed to come to Netflix, paying up to watch it early will allow you to go back and re-watch it when it finally does start streaming. After all, with Jordan leading the new flick, you may just want to watch this one more than once.
