Which Flights Will Jonas Affect This Weekend?

by Alicia Lu

Earlier this week, meteorologists began warning of a possibly crippling winter storm headed to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions this weekend. Winter Storm Jonas is expected to hit on Thursday night and last until Sunday, possibly dumping several feet of snow in some areas. If you're planning on traveling in the affected regions this weekend, be prepared for possible delays and cancellations. Many airlines have already started preparing for the snowstorm, and here's how you can find out which flights will be affected because of Jonas.

According to The Weather Channel, many airlines are already allowing customers to reschedule their flights at no extra cost. Southwest Airlines posted a travel advisory warning on its website, stating:

Based on the forecasted weather conditions, our scheduled service on Thursday, January 21 thru Sunday, January 24 may be disrupted (delayed, diverted, and/or cancelled flights).

Southwest's full list of affected cities can be found here.

United Airlines posted a similar message on its website, warning travelers of longer-than-usual lines at TSA checkpoints and offering waivers for those traveling to or from certain airports.

Delta is also making a similar offer, alerting passengers on its website that if their flight is canceled or significantly delayed, they will be entitled to a full refund. The airline also noted that even if their flight is not canceled, travelers can still make a one-time change to their ticket without paying extra fees. Delta also posted a full list of affected cities.

If you're traveling this weekend, but not with any of these airlines, be sure to check your airline's website for the status of your flight and for any updates.
