"GET LUCKY" WINS RECORD OF THE YEAR

We know them by heart after singing along to them on the radio. And, on Sunday night, one of them was crowned the Best Record of the Year at the 2014 Grammys. Though the nominees included "Get Lucky," "Royals," "Locked Out of Heaven," "Blurred Lines," and "Radioactive," Pharrell and Daft Punk won the Grammy for their hit record, "Get Lucky." Looks like they did get lucky!

Our ears first caught wind of "Get Lucky's" old-school disco beat in late April, after hearing a snippet of it in an advertisement during Saturday Night Live. That soon-to-be infamous beat was produced by French electronic music, Daft Punk, featuring rapper Pharrell, and was written by William and Niles Rodgers. The song, which also won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance earlier in the night, has sold more than 7 million copies since September 2013 and has become the unofficial anthem for a Friday night out ever since.

The competition was undoubtedly tight this year. All of the nominated songs are still stuck in our heads and if you don't know all of the lyrics by heart, you've probably been living under a rock. While we are pleased with this year's winner, we can't help but wonder what kind of scandal may have erupted if Robin Thicke had walked away with the statue for his controversial hit, "Blurred Lines."

While Daft Punk remained speechless under their robot head gear, Pharrell managed to get a word in about the production duo.

"Honestly, I bet France is really proud of these guys right now," Pharrell said, accepting along with Daft Punk and William and Niles Rodgers.

"Get Lucky" joins iconic past Records of the Year, including Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You," Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," and last year's winner, Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know." Welcome to the club, Get Lucky!
