You Know You Loved These Spice Girls Outfits

by Augusta Statz

Back then, it seemed like everybody wanted to spice up their life, you know? I mean, I know I was obsessed with the Spice Girls (along with the rest of the world) and for good reason. Here are 23 Spice Girls outfits you loved but now hate because their fashion used to kill it, but now… not so much. Their music, their dressing skills, their girl power. Ahh, those were the days weren’t they?

Now, don’t get me wrong — this girl group wasn’t totally off with their fashion. It was definitely in at the time, and heck, some of it is still wearable today. I mean, Sporty Spice was definitely on to something with that whole athleisure vibe. Not to mention Posh Spice and that monochromatic thing she had going on. And those crop tops will never go out of style, if you ask me. But, some of the ladies’ ensembles should stay in the past simply because that’s where they were worn best.

Check out 23 of their most outrageous and outdated looks, and get ready because these outfits — while you might not want to run to your closet and put anything remotely like this on — will make you really, really, really wanna zigazig ah!

1. Casual

This is casual for the Spice Girls, and while it was cute back then, I don't know that I'd wear any of these quirky, relaxed outfits now. Not even the spaghetti strapped tank top — unless I was layering it.

2. Girl Power

I was all about their "strong girl" vibe at the time, and I still am. But, I'm not about that sheer bodysuit or that track suit, really.

3. So '90s

This isn't all bad, but I'm not feeling Mel B's vest.

4. Glam Girls

Sequins, velvet and bold prints worn together like this should definitely be a thing of the past.

5. Performance Time

There's a lot going on here. I don't think I'd wear any of what I'm seeing today, though.

6. '90s Chic

So, not all of this is bad. I love the choker and the turtleneck, but, sorry Buzz, I don't think I'd wear you around these days.

7. Red Carpet

I was all about their powerful statements back in the day, but now, I'm not loving it as much.

8. Wacky Fashion

I just can't get behind these crazy prints anymore, you guys.

9. Shiny Spice Girls

They had the shimmer thing down pat. I definitely don't think I could pull off a tiara quite as well as Baby Spice.

10. Seeing Stripes

I don't think pinstripes should really be a group thing.

11. Black & White

Wearing black and white is still into totally acceptable, just maybe not in the form of argyle pants, you know?

12. Coordinated

Co-ords are definitely in right now, just not these.

13. Printastic

Again with the wild prints. I'm just not feeling it.

14. Victoria's Secret

I actually think these are still pretty wearable. Except for the hot pink one. Sorry, Posh.

15. Red Nose Accompaniment

Red leather pants and baggy cargo-style bottoms were cool at the time, but I don't think I'd try them now.

16. Matching Coats

It was cute for them, but I wouldn't do it with my friends.

17. Platforms

Mick Hutson/Redferns/Getty Images

I loved these chunky shoes on them, but I'm not as into them anymore.

18. '90s Seating Style

Paul Bergen/Redferns/Getty Images

The only thing I'd care to have now are those chairs!

19. Multi-Colored

Bob King/Redferns/Getty Images

At least that multi-colored suit would match, well, anything.

20. '90s Style

Tim Roney/Hulton Archive/Getty Images

I don't know if I'd style them exactly the same, but many of those pieces still work. Funny how some trends never really go away, huh?

21. Blinged Out

Chris Walter/WireImage/Getty Images

Although, I'd be OK if these stayed gone.

22. Street Style

Fred Duval/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Ginger's not too far off base with that coat, but those cargo pants the others are wearing have got to go.

23. Besties

John Stanton/WireImage/Getty Images

Here they are in all of their glory, co-ords I wouldn't be caught dead in and all.

I wouldn't change the Spice Girls or their wardrobes for anything, no matter how many years pass. Because nothing was quite as great as they were.

Squad goals.
