5 Benefits Of Adding Crystals To Your Skincare

by Augusta Statz

Skincare that will get you glowing from the inside-out sounds like something I could totally get behind. That’s why I decided to look into the benefits of crystal-infused skincare treatments, because while I hadn’t the faintest clue what a “chakra” was, I was definitely curious to know more about what gems could do for my skin.

By the way, chakras are energy centers within the body, and they’re exactly what the crystals floating around in those beauty products cater to. So, while you may think they’re just there for decoration (because they are pretty), they’re servicing a much larger purpose than just looking good on the shelf of your medicine cabinet. While they do have healing properties for your skin, according to Elle, they’re also designed to impact your mood and overall energy. A healthy, glowing inside will lead to healthy, glowing skin on the outside, at least that’s the idea behind these gems. And it isn’t a new thought, either.

While it may just be gaining some popularity in this modern age, facialist Georgia Louise told Vogue, “It’s said that Cleopatra bathed with chunks of rose quartz, which is known for its intense healing and anti-aging benefits.” So, if it was good enough for Cleopatra, it’s gotta be good for the rest of us. Just saying.

Find out some of the benefits of using gemstones in your skincare routine:

1. Healing Inside & Out

Sephora Collection Pearl Mask , $6, Sephora

Try adding pearl into your routine in the form of a face mask. Pearl is an ingredient that is said to help you embrace your femininity, while giving you firm, bight skin. That's one heck of a way to make a girl look and feel good, you know?

2. A Wide Variety

Rose Quartz Face Creme , $37, Gemstone Organic

There's a crystal for just about everything in your life that's out of order. But, according to Byrdie, there's one crystal that you really should be using (at the very least) and that's rose quartz. It has anti-aging properties and reduces redness, so sign me up.

3. Soothing

Organic Clary Sage Gem Juice Hydrosol , $18, Gemstone Organic

Many of the gemstones you can implement into your beauty routine have soothing qualities. Sara Clement of Gemstone Organic described how Clary Sage can be sooting to the skin, as well as to the body and mind. "Breath it in as you use it — this gem juice is also an aromatherapy spray. Clary Sage is great for balancing hormones, preventing acne, and inducing a warm and comforted state of mind," she writes in an email to Bustle.

4. Keep You In Balance

Headache Magic , $12, Aquarian Soul

Since what gets applied on your face can be absorbed into your bloodstream, it's a good idea to help use natural products that will give you balanced skin and a balanced being. Elle recommends using amethyst to help you do just that.

5. You'll Feel & See The Difference

Diamond Radiance Eye Masks , $60, Knesko

Diamonds really are a girl's best friend. They're great at strengthening skin and exfoliating, as well as feeding your successful energy. That's some all-around strengthening power for the inside and out.

So, if you're wanting to feel good and look great, all while really taking care of your skin, I'd say it's time to see if these gemstones really are as good as they claim to be.
