'Saved By The Bell's Zack & Kelly Are Reuniting

by Vannessa Jackson

For years, fans have been dreaming of seeing Zack, Slater, Kelly, Lisa, and Jessie return to the hallowed halls of Bayside High, and, for years, the world has had to settle for small cameo's from the cast. Well, I'm here to tell you, that's probably all we'll ever get. Tiffani Thiessen's newest show Dinner at Tiffani's on the Cooking Channel is in the midst of its second season, and Thiessen has confirmed Mark-Paul Gosselaar as a guest, which means we're getting a Saved by the Bell reunion with Zack and Kelly. While Thiessen has already been visited by some of her former Saved By The Bell cast-mates, including Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez, don't hold your breathe for a whole cast reunion on the show anytime soon.

Thiessen will be eating dinner with Gosselaar and his wife, Catrriona McGinn, on an episode in Season 2. However, Thiessen says there are no future plans for an all-Saved by the Bell episode. In fact, in an interview with the Huffington Post, she says that the hilarious sketch during The Tonight Show in late 2015 is the closest fans might get, "I think us doing our skit on Jimmy Fallon was as close as people are going to get, which was, I think, pretty cool." It was pretty cool, but I think I can speak for all of us when I say: We want more.

I do realize that, over the years, the Saved by the Bell cast has been more than generous with their cameos on different shows, but they need to go out with a final hour-long special bang. Is that too much to ask? Yes, probably, but I don't care. Sadly, this probably won't happen. Not only because of Thiessen's admission, but the cast is pretty busy these days with their own individual careers. Thiessen and Gosselaar both have new shows, Lopez is hosting every event in Hollywood, and nobody needs a reminder as to what Dustin Diamond has been up to over the last decade. Suffice to say, they probably wouldn't have the time, even if they did want to do a reunion.

I'm hoping the peer pressure of all the other television reunions will inspire them to do one of their own. Doubtful, but I need to believe there is some hope. Either way, we have this new episode of Dinner at Tiffani's to get our fill of Zack and Kelly moments. Besides the fact that their spouses will be there, and they won't be playing characters, it will be exactly the same thing.

Dinner at Tiffani's airs Wednesdays on the Cooking Channel.
