Taraji P. Henson Just Won The Super Bowl

by Kadeen Griffiths

No offense to Coldplay, but if anyone is going to ask me what I remember about the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, I'm probably going to mention the Beyoncé and Bruno Mars mash-up that I'm still trying to track down on the Internet. The halftime show was an amazing combination of the past, the present, and the future, and, though Beyoncé stole the show like she always does, Coldplay still gave us something truly magnificent and very colorful. Of course, that was sort of lost on some people. Taraji P. Henson thought Coldplay was Maroon 5 in the most epic Instagram post of the night, and, though it was an innocent mistake, it's still very entertaining.

Henson, like the rest of us, was glued to her television screen for the halftime show to end all halftime shows, and she appears to be a very big Coldplay fan. Or perhaps a very big Maroon 5 fan? I'm not sure which one is more accurate, since her caption to the video of the halftime performance starring Coldplay and some very colorful rainbow flowers read, "YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!! #maroon5 is life to me!!! #superbowl50 #HappyCamper I am 💋💋💋." While it's quite likely that the actress behind the incredible Cookie Lyon will soon notice the error and correct the caption, for the moment it stands as a source of confusion and amusement for fans, who are flooding her Instagram comments to poke fun at the inaccurate tag.

Like I said, Coldplay put on an amazing show, though they may have been just a slight bit overshadowed by the likes of Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. And, like I said, obviously Henson isn't throwing shade at the band by mixing them up with another band. It's just one of those hilarious mix-ups that make watching the Super Bowl just that much more fun for the audience, especially the audience who are glued to the Internet the whole time.

And, just when you thought the situation couldn't get funnier, even Adam Levine got in on the fun. The lead singer of Maroon 5 took a screencap of Henson's post, with the Maroon 5 tag still intact, and posted it to his own Instagram with the caption, "THIS." Because Maroon 5 is life, even if that's not Maroon 5 performing at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. Or maybe because Adam Levine is totally OK with Coldplay being mistaken for Maroon 5? Or maybe even because Adam Levine also thought that was Maroon 5 performing at the Super Bowl? Hey, I don't know his life.

At the end of the day, innocent mistakes happen, and they're not always this funny. But the combined force of Henson and Levine turned a simply LOLworthy moment into one of the, hands down, biggest highlights of Super Bowl 50. Yeah, I said it.
