The Reaction To Kanye's Bill Cosby Tweet Is Great

Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy — stop. In a questionable Tweet-spree Tuesday evening, Yeezy himself, Kanye West, decided to go on one his famous drama-causing Twitter rants. He started the rant with a screenshot of an email conversation requesting more sewers for leather clothing items (???) — aka, relatively harmless. But, after a few more tweets featuring more and more content, things got a little more controversial. In a three-word, all-caps tweet, West proclaimed Bill Cosby, who was accused by over 50 women of drugging them and/or sexually assaulting them, "innocent." The tweet read, simply: "BILL COSBY INNOCENT !!!!!!!"

West offered no other explanation for his claims, and soon moved on to tweeting about LeBron James and Nike. Though West is, of course, allowed to say whatever he likes — freedom of speech exists in this country, after all — it's still wrong that West commented on the case at all. The situation surrounding Cosby is a complicated one. Over 50 women have accused the actor of drugging and/or sexually assaulting them — West is not directly involved with the case, so it's deeply wrong and disrespectful for him comment on it, even if to share his opinion on whether or not he believes the allegations to be true.

One good thing that has come of West's tweet, however, is the response it has gotten from the feminist community on Twitter. Unsurprisingly, tons of women took to the social media site to share their views on West's tweet, and, also unsurprisingly, they were all badass.

So far, West has released no follow-up or response to the Cosby tweet. Bustle has reached out to West's rep in response to this tweet, but has not yet received a response. Back in November 2014, Cosby's former lawyer Marty Singer released a statement in regards to the claims of sexual assault against the actor:

Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.
