You Can Rent This Room For Real

by Megan Grant

Airbnb hosts are unquestionably upping their game. First came the Netflix and chill apartment in New York City; now, there's an Airbnb rental that's a replica of Vincent van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles painting. The creation was a collaboration between Airbnb and the Art Institute of Chicago, taking a room within an apartment and completely modeling it after the famous artist's iconic masterpiece — and the attention to detail is absolutely eyeopening. It brings the painting to life in a way that I don't think anyone ever imagined was possible.

Van Gogh created this work while living in the "Yellow House" in Arles, Provence, located in the south of France. The current Airbnb apartment is located in the River North neighborhood of Chicago and can fit two guests. The listing explains that it is decorated in Post-Impressionist style, with its furniture and colors further reflecting the time period. The room is a total steal, too, going for a mere $10 a night! The host explains, "I'm charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint. However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago."

Don't wait to book, people, because this one is filling up fast. February is already completely taken, and March dates will be released at the end of the month.

Awesome, right? I'm seriously impressed. Who wouldn't want to live in a painting? So many creative Airbnb hosts are taking things to a whole new level lately, from allowing visitors to literally Netflix and chill to building and renting igloos during Winter Storm Jonas. There's travel, and then there's travel... and then there's this. And this? Is incredibly cool.
