Bieber's Potential Grammys Date Might Have Plans

by Michelle McGahan

When it comes to the finer details of Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's "non-exclusive" relationship, the pair is eager to keep some things between them, as Hailey Baldwin recently told E! News. And I mean, fair enough — it's only natural to want to keep some (if not all) aspects of your personal life, well, personal, even when you are a public figure in the limelight (in addition to Bieber's fame, Baldwin is a model and the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin). Still, both Bieber and Baldwin haven't exactly shied away from making their relationship pretty darn public, with literal years of cozy Instagram photos all leading up to that pivotal moment when Bieber finally posted a photo kissing Baldwin on Instagram. With this public romance comes public dates, and Justin Bieber is set to attend the 2016 Grammy Awards on Monday, Feb. 15, where he is up for an award and is slated to perform. Will Hailey Baldwin be Bieber's date to the Grammys?

It's important to note that the 2016 Grammys — held at the Staples Center in L.A. — overlaps with New York Fashion Week, a crucial time for a model such as Baldwin, who has already been 'gramming her way through NYFW staples like the amfAR Gala. Considering the fact that the 19-year-old is focused on her modeling career and made her NYFW debut last year, it would make sense that, one, she is set to walk again, and two, even if she isn't, she should be in New York to make important contacts, attend shows, and just generally be a presence in the NYFW scene.

That being said, there is always the possibility that Baldwin could fly back to L.A. to attend the Grammys and support Bieber. Ever since the Biebs posted that shot of the two kissing, both parties have made sure to explain the nature of their relationship in pretty plain terms: They're seeing each other, but it's not exclusive. As Baldwin told E!:

We are not an exclusive couple. He's about to go on tour. Relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don't really like to talk about it because it's between me and him.

For his part, Bieber elaborated on his relationship with Baldwin in his lengthy GQ profile, describing her as "someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together."

"What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged," he said, explaining he doesn't want to be "tied down" to a relationship at this point in his life. (Bieber is 21 and is about to embark on a world tour for Purpose). "It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard... I just don’t want to hurt her."

Romantic relationship or not, exclusive or not, it's clear that Bieber and Baldwin are close friends — albeit close friends who occasionally make out — but who better to bring as your date to the Grammy Awards, right? (That's the kind of person I'd bring as a wedding date, TBH!) If only Hailey Baldwin was in town...
