Taylor Swift's Squad Reacts To Kanye West's Lyric

I always look forward to Fridays, but when I wake up to a Kanye West Twitter rant, well, it's safe to say that my day is more than a little ruined. On Thursday, West's new album The Life of Pablo dropped with one song, "Famous" including the following lyrics: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b*tch famous." Obviously, this garnered a lot attention for its misogyny and offensiveness. West didn't apologizing for his more than insulting words, and Taylor Swift's friends have her back.

On Friday morning, West went on a Twitter rant not only saying he had approval from Swift for the line, but that she thought the lyric about her was funny and that she's the one who came up with it. He tweeted, "I did not diss Taylor Swift and I’ve never dissed her…" He continued, "3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings." He also posted, "5th thing I’m not even gone take credit for the idea… it’s actually something Taylor came up with…"

West's words were in response to a statement Swift's publicist released late Thursday:

Kanye did not call for approval. But to ask Taylor to release his single Famous on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, "I made that b*tch famous."

It's no secret that the 26-year-old singer has a lot of friends. She's even made a name for herself for her "squad" and major support for other women. So, it should come as no surprise that her friends, including Jaime King, Gigi Hadid, and Ruby Rose, are speaking out on Twitter.

King and Swift are so tight that she named the 1989 singer godmother of her second son, Leo. The former Hart of Dixie actor tweeted, "I'm so sad right now & disappointed right now. I stand by my sister. Always." Now, her tweet isn't direct or specific by any means, but it appears "sister" is referring to Swift. Seeing as the tweet was posted Thursday after all of the madness, I think it's safe to say this is King's way of supporting Swift.

As for Hadid, her tweet reads as follows: "My attendance somewhere does not mean I agree with everything being said in the music playing there. My friends know of my loyalty." For those unaware, the 20-year-old model attended West's Yeezy Season 3 fashion show, where he also debuted his album, at New York Fashion Week Thursday night. Obviously, she received negative attention for supporting West after saying such horrible things about one of her best friends. Hadid is making it very clear that just because she hung out at Madison Square Garden doesn't mean she whatsoever agrees with anything the rapper has said (and might continue to say) about Swift.

Orange Is the New Black actor Ruby Rose was a bit more forward with her opinions regarding West's lyrics about Swift. She tweeted, "Too many lines crossed. If I put myself in the shoes of the women he has hurt recently. Victims of Bill Cosby, The Slut shaming, Amber..." She continued, "And now my dear friend Taylor.. Right before another huge moment for her.. Can I still support him and call myself a feminist? A friend? No."

Clearly, Rose isn't drinking West's Kool-Aid. In addition to backing Swift, Rose also finds West's defense of Cosby and his comments about his ex Amber Rose more than despicable.

When it comes to Swift, there's no doubt many people have her back. The same can be said of her brother, Austin Swift, who reacted to the "Famous" lyrics in an understandably unhappy manner. On Thursday, he posted a video on Instagram of himself doing "some spring cleaning," in which he tosses a pair of Yeezy Boosts into the trash.

Even though West isn't finding any fault within himself for what he's rapping about Swift, plenty of people are, including her closest friends. West isn't going to bring down her squad anytime soon.
