'The Life Of Pablo' Is Hard To Find

by Chloe Kent

After days of anticipation, Kanye West's newest album is finally available to download — but right now, Life of Pablo is only on TIDAL, to the tune of $20. Although last night's eager Saturday Night Life viewers were directed to West's website for downloads, fans were instead treated to a 10-minute voicemail, from a man named Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def). So as of now, it looks like TIDAL is the only real place to hear Pablo, unfortunately. Update: On Monday evening, Kanye tweeted that The Life Of Pablo will only be available on Tidal. He wrote: "My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale... You can only get it on Tidal."

Earlier: For a brief, shining moment on Friday, TLOP streamed on Pandora, but the album was pulled the next day. (As of right now, the album yields no results on West's artist page; a spokesperson confirmed that the site is waiting on West to release the album to them.) Until further notice, The Life of Pablo is a Tidal exclusive, meaning the album is not, so far, available on iTunes, Amazon or any other digital music service. Perhaps that'll change in due time, however.

Like TLOP, TIDAL, which debuted during a star-studded (and highly confusing) press conference last year, has experienced its share of bumps down the road. In addition to ample behind-the-scenes drama, the streaming service appears to have accidentally leaked Rihanna's long-awaited Anti, as well as experienced technical difficulties during its much-anticipated lifestream of Kanye's TLOP listening party at Madison Square Garden last week. But it's also had triumphs, such as its exclusive releases (Beyonce's "Formation" among them), and now its hosting of TLOP will undoubtedly add to its popularity.

Still, it'd certainly be nice for fans if TIDAL wasn't the onlyplace that you could hear TLOP in its entirety. Hopefully that'll change in the not-too-distant future, and in the meantime, let's just be thankful West even released an album at all.
