Kimye's 2016 Grammys Outfits Would've Slayed

by Marc Cuenco

They better make good on that promise to run for office at this point because Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were not at the 2016 Grammy Awards even though everyone wished they were. And, in a way, Kim K and Kanye are the closest that pop culture has to a First Couple today, perhaps with the notable exception of queen Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Fresh off the Yeezy Season 3 premiere at Madison Square Garden last week, the Wests would have donned — what else? — something in the Yeezy and Balmain collaboration, I'm sure.

So, why would a Kim and Kanye appearance at the Grammys mean? In a perfect Kanye world, the rapper can simply answer that staple red carpet question, "Who are you wearing?" to a short and simple: "Me." On the other hand, the Grammys red carpet is where fashion, Hollywood glamour, and rock 'n' roll perfectly collide, which is the perfect opportunity to wear Yeezy Season 3's luxe-meets-athleisure aesthetic. We would have also known if Kardashian was going as a blonde or go back to her brunette roots for the red carpet.

Even though they didn't grace us with their presence on the red carpet, West was nominated for four Grammys tonight, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for "All Day," a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration nod for "One Man Can Change the World," and a co-nomination for Album of the Year for The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness. Hours before the red carpet started, West threatened to skip the Grammys if he wasn't a lock to win the top category.

And there you have it. Sadly, a Kim and Kanye appearance didn't happen tonight, but Grammy Awards or not, these two would have slayed the red carpet in one of these looks:

1. Athleisure

2. White On White

Mr. and Mrs. Fabulosity.

Their Met Gala looks last year were equal parts drama and sleek glamour. Maybe next year, Kimye.
